Session Abstract
Telemedicine is a rapidly developing application of clinical medicine in which medical information is transferred via telephone, the internet or other networks for the purpose of consulting and remote medical procedures or examinations. E-Health, on the other hand, is a relatively recent term for healthcare practice supported by electronic processes and communication. This roundtable, sponsored by Lavandoo and Geomed, closes the "Health Day" activities at the Open Meeting by focussing on these two innovative approaches to health care. International experts from a variety of fields will provide insights as to the main trajectories of research and practice in this realm. Telemedicine and e-Health are already components of baseline health care services and will continue as such into the future. In guaranteeing health care for all, telemedicine and e-health applications have a huge potential. In both the industrialised and developing world, both can play a significant role in the future of health services. |
